Wedding Party Question?

I have like 2 girls that I feel close enough to ask to be my bridesmaids and I really don't want to ask anyone else because I think it would just be dumb.. being a bridesmaid is kinda expensive so I wouldn't expect people that I'm not even close to to want to do it. The problem is though, my fiance wants his 2 brothers and 2 good friends to all be his groomsmen. So what should I do?.. Just tell him he needs to cut it down to 2 or what? Or does there absolutely have to be an equal number of bridesmaids and groomsmen?
