Coloring foam egg cartons - teachers help?

The only thing I can think of would be permanent markers and that is not good with kids. I guess just glue tissue paper or construction paper on the carton. That would be the best solution or you could paint the carton with glue and then sprinkle it with glitter. Hope this works out.
