Solar panels - serious architectural answer needed!?

Here's my problem - a design I have for my arch studio involves a wall consisting of horizontally oriented louvers, spaced vertically for about two stories. Originally they were meant for solar shading, but this was scrapped. Is there any use for this type of wall? Can I stick solar panels on it, and how efficient would these be (sun angle is around 80 degrees)? Thanks!
